Head-to-head ice.

The Flames were the better team for the second period and a portion of the third. A calvacade of penalties (both deserved and undeserved) got the Wings back in it after the 10 minute mark in the third, which is the point the big boys for DET really took over (a 12-0 chance run from that point on).

Iginla was under water for the second straight game at ES, which is ironic given his recent offensive explosion. The big guy had had really bad percentages up until now, so he was bound to start seeing some pucks find the back of the net a bit more often at some point. That said, unless the correction continues for an indefinite amount of time, I don't know if all the Flames problems are solved.

3 of those ES chances against Iginla came in overtime in a span of 15 seconds. I don't think that would be indicative of the way he played for the whole game. I actually thought he was quite good - but couldn't get any ice time or momentum due to the cavalcade of Flames sent to the penalty box.

Hey! I used "cavalcade" too! Isn't that weird?

Do you think that we 'sat back' with the lead? or that DET 'turned it on'? or we were jobbed by the jobbers (refs)?

Thought Jarome had a very good game too. Although he had some of his bad habits still, like taking himself out of the scoring area to attempt a pass. That was boneheaded.

I see he had a lot of icetime against Detroit's lessers which is totally sensible given their top guys played practically an entire period a man up and the shifts-after-the-PPs would be prime Iggy-vs-depth time.

Long and short was the Colie influence, really. I choose not to get wound up about the last three seconds because in no sane world does it matter. Flames most certainly deserved a three goal margin (at least!) at that point.

I'm no good at counting but Reggie and Mikkelson got 30 seconds of PP time which I don't remember but am assuming was the time between Hagman and Bertuzzi's penalty expirations, and then only 4 and 5 with the other real PP time among the D. Which means we're in this 4F-on-the-PP phase for reals. Awesome.

Morrison and Stajan with no PP time, granted Calgary only had 2 PPs but still. Curious. What did Morrison do in particular, injured still? Did he give up a SH chance the other way one time? Bet a bit of both.
