A complete butt-kicking that is camoflaged in the numbers by the Pens sitting on a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period.

The Flames were a tired team playing against a very good opponent. In terms of noteworthy performances on either end of the specturm, Kipper was excellent while the David Moss line with Glencross and Bourque was flat out awful. Bourque has struggled for a few weeks, but Moss has been quality up until now since coming back from injury. Just one of those nights I guess.

Kent,

I want to see if I'm reading the stats right. I'll just use Iggy for a marker. I missed pretty much the entire first half of the game, but I know Pittsburgh fired 24 shots in the first period alone. Iggy was 5-6 for scoring chances in those first two periods and 11-7 overall, so he wasn't too bad even the Flames at large were getting killed. He mostly played against strong comp and was +7 corsi, and was even for zone start? So all in all a pretty strong game for the Captain despite not cashing in any chances? And he wasn't really sheltered or fed favourable situations?

Further to #1's point, Crosby went 7-5 through 2 and 8-9 overall if my counting is correct. Malkin went 6-4 through 2 and 6-5 overall.

Boy those are good numbers for Malkin considering he looked like freakin' Olli Jokinen every time he was on the ice. But, just look at how much time he played with Crosby who looked like Zetterberg, or Forsberg, or Sakic, or Modano, or... yeah.

And still Iggy played them to almost even. H2H icetime suggests PVP and that's how it went last year too. I paid more attention to that one and Iggy dominated, Crosby paid him back a bit today but overal #12 was decent.

I know 87 scored three, but the depth lost us this one, straight up. Against Pittsburgh... that flat out should not happen. They need to be punished somehow, how I don't know, but they're pissing away terrific efforst from the captain.

Speaking of Jarome, Sutter noticed his good work and rewarded him with insane double-shifting. 18 minutes of EV time!!! Crikey!
