As we near the official end of the season (how awesome have these playoffs been, btw), some rumblings out of Flames-Land that a possible trade may be in the works. Here's what FAN960's 'Boomer' Dean Molberg just tweeted:
Working on a Flames trade rumor this morning. Nothing confirmed, but believe there to be a deal done... Should mention, if true, the deal is not of the blockbuster variety.
After months of scathing reviews, what does DAZ have up his sleeve? Stay tuned to FlamesNation for updates.
Meanwhile...
Aaron Portzline, of the Columbus Dispatch, reports this morning that the Columbus Blue Jackets have settled on Guy Boucher to be their next coach. Boucher was the head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs last season. He's apparently pondering his future this weekend, will get back to the BJ's early next week.
And in Tampa Bay, Steve Yzerman starts to re-shape the Lightning behind the scenes. Pat Verbeek has been hired as a pro scout after serving as a scout for the Detroit Red Wings the last four seasons. Also, Ryan Martin, the Red Wings' director of hockey administration (or "capologist'') has spoken to Yzerman about the Lightning's assistant GM job, but has not been hired yet. Erik Erlendsson, of the Tampa Tribune, asks "If Guy Boucher indeed heads to CBJ, does that completely open the door for Kevin Dineen to become new Lightning coach?" They could do worse. Dineen's long been considered an up-and-coming coach.
Aaaaaaand... from Boomer (twitter.com/fan960boomer)...
Spoke with Flames player rumored to be traded, he's heard nothing. False alarm? Apologies. You may return to your Saturday.
One wonders where the initial info came from. A trade rumor is one thing...a completed trade is quite another.
The player not knowing whether or not he's been traded doesn't mean jack in Sutterville. COME ONNNNNNN DEAD WEIGHT REMOVAL
are there not some rules about trades between deadline day and the awarding of the cup ? not to say that GMs don't actively pursue them/verbally complete them.....
I think you're free to trade if your team isn't competing. For example, Jared Staal was recently traded.
Most teams just don't.
hm talked to the flames pr team on friday and the only flame in town is corey sarich.. There will be others for the golf tourney but sarich is the only flame doing appearances for the team at the moment
I don't know what Boomer qualifies as "blockbuster" but personally if they traded Sarich I would probably classify that as news-worthy. Certainly not something I'd specifically go out of my way to qualify as "not blockbluster".
In any case, he likely talked to said player Ron the phone.
