Is it the first shoe to drop?  Or is it all we'll see today?  The Calgary Flames have signed free agent forward Alex Tanguay to what's being reported as a one year contract worth $1.7 million.

It'll be Tanguay's second stint with the Flames, as he played two seasons post-lockout in Calgary.  In 2006-07, Tanguay put up 81 points in 81 games, however dipped to 58 points in 78 games the following year.  Following that season, Tanguay was traded to Montreal in a move that acquired Mike Cammalleri the other way.

It's an affordable move for the Flames as Tanguay has struggled offensively since leaving Calgary...in 80 games, he put up 37 points last year.

Tanguay's deal also involved a no movement clause.

Good signing for the Flames, limited down side risk with a 1 year $1.7 million contract, good upside potential on the first line with Iggy

Welcome home! Usually when a player asks to leave town, it's rare they return and for a fraction of the price too. This is a great move that's no risk high reward. With Keenan gone and the prospects of playing with Iggy begins to make this deal make sense.

Good price and has worked with Iggy before. Wait..Does this mean we're signing Jokinen next? Bring back the players we traded away. Just kidding. I hope!

Pretty safe move and a positive one at that. I don't think DS is done yet, though.

...I'm pretty excited about this one. Nice price tag (1.7 million) for an almost PPG scorer during his career.

...Tanguay, Hagman, Higgins on the left wing now.

...Langkow, Stajan, Backlund down the middle.

...Iggy, Borque, Kotalik (maybe) on right wing.

...Not sure how the Kotalik thing will work out. Wonder if there is a FA out the on RW we will get, or a trade. Hopefully we can sign White back. Still would like to move Sarich (3.5 million) and Staios (2.5 million), maybe Langkow (4.5 million) and Regher (4 million) too. It would make the team younger, paid less, and leave some room to make significant moves at the trade deadline.

...Anyways, go Flamers!
