Oilers and Flames Tonight...Minus 3

LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 25: Taylor Hall, drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers, poses for a portrait during the 2010 NHL Entry Draft at Staples Center on June 25, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)

The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers play tonight in Penticton as part of Vancouver's Young Stars Tournament.  However, the Oilers will be sitting three of the highest profile players at the tournament, as Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Magnus Paajarvi will not play.

The Oilers had planned to play the trio for only two of the three games in Penticton, so those three will instead play against San Jose's prospects.  The decision probably makes some Flames fans sour, as many were excited to see the trio play against their provincial rivals.

The Flames took an 8-4 win over Anaheim prospects last night, a game where Calgary's more experienced roster won the day.  Gametime tonight is 8:30 pm on www.calgaryflames.com and www.fan960.com.  The Flames finish off their tournament on Thursday.

Can we stop comparing every good skating defenseman in the world to Niedermayer?

How about that step-up at the line by Brodie on the goal?

That dude is just quality.

You only missed them comparing Brodie to Scott N because Brodie skates well.

God knows how many Nieder comps I had to bear with Fowler at Draft day.

They used to do that with Coffey about 20 years ago, Corey.

At least he avoided the Orr comparison.

Comparing Coffey to Scott? Did they predict the future?

I got the joke he was making, KW. On a more serious note, when a scout/player personnel type says, "you know, (player X) reminds me of Bret Hedican", I might pay more attention.

Keith Seabrook is an adventure out there. Sometimes good, sometimes what we just saw.

Yeah. Apparently he was a forward for a long time. Sometimes he stills looks it.

"an adventure" is the most awesome way to describe a player.

Whats worse? That we lost to the Oilers? Or that we lost to the Oilers without their "big 3" in the lineup? With this game on mute it was somewhat entertaining. Its good to see all the players who need to have a big impact at this tournament are, at the very least giving it their all. Looks like Abbotsford is going to have a very entertaining team this season. Might even take the Ferry ride across to the mainland and watch a game or 2 this season. At least as Flames fans today we received a couple of gifts in the form of new nicknames for some of our new players. Keith "the adventure" Seabrook has a nice ring to it, thanks Robert Cleave! And the other one made my day today on twitter, I can't remember who said it but it "Bouma goes the Dynamite" will probably stick now too.

Seabrook was like that with the Hitmen too - sometimes very good, sometimes teeth-grittingly bad....hope he can become more consistent with some more AHL experience. Maybe pick up some pointers from big brother ;)
