Calgary's poor play at ES finally caught up with them tonight. Neither the PP nor the goaltending could bail them out, even against the worst team in the East. Calgary's top line continues to be a sink hole in terms of possession at 5on5 and although that hasn't hurt the team much lately, expect more results like tonight going forward if things don't improve.

I've seen enough of this team that I'm officially cheering for them to stay at/below .500. They were legit up until last year, wavered, and this year they look full on bottom 1/3 of the league. Time for pragmatism to take full hold, I say. GO EVERYONE BUT CALGARY!

Kent,

I have the top line together as only -1 by scoring chances on the night, mostly attributable to what would appear to be one shift in the third where they went -3 in the third with Brodie and Butler on defence.

Iginla's inflated number comes courtesy of a shift in the first where he was out with Horak, Byron, Hannan and Smith against the Tavares line.

By Corsi, Iginla was in the red (likely owing to that shift against Tavares with lesser linemates) and Jokinen was even and Glencross was on the good side.

While as these things add up you can't escape the averages, it is a bit much to describe the top line as a "sink hole" owing to Iginla showing harsh possession stats by being sent out with 3 rookies and Scott Hannan to take on the Tavares line.
