For the second straight game the Flames were the better team at ES. The Canadiens really struggled for the first two periods and only really ran things up when Calgary was defending in the third period. Montreal is a club lacking most of their big guns and with nothing to play for, so this was definitely a game for the Flames to win. It ended up closer than it should have been due to a late flurry and some bad bounces, but for the most part Calgary deserved this one.

Curious on the Habs last goal - wasn't that about as classic a case as 'player in the crease interfering with the goaltender' there could possibly be? I know it wasn't typical since Kipper was flailing, but I must really not understand player in the crease rules if that didn't cause that goal to be disallowed. No?
What is with Montreal's fourth goal? I'm not sure how that stood? If a player is standing in the crease and he went there of his own accord should that not be goaltender interference? Calgary is quite good at blowing leads on their own without help from the officiating.
@maimster
That's funny. Almost the exact same post at the same time. I must not understand the rules because they went to the war room in Toronto and the goal was ruled good.
I was shocked that it was ruled good in Toronto (except, of course, that it is in Toronto and well, you know...). I'm wondering if it is because Kipper had moved outside the crease prior to the Hab encroaching and he had given up his right to the space?
Anyway, one more ugly win in a season full of them (and by ugly, I mean beautiful - a win is a win). Lots of ugly losses too, but those are just ugly.
not to mention the Campoli takedown on Stajan with the empty net - should easily been a penalty.
What a terrible game. Two awful teams with very shoddy defence, leaving there goalies to fight the battle themselves. If there ever was a game that both teams could have lost, that was it. Glencross, Iginla's wrap around.
You were a lot kinder to Montreal than your Habs equivalent. Oliver had the ES at 20-11 in favour of Calgary.
