Easy does it, Sparky.

No one is nominating Lowe and Mac T as executives of the year. However, you are the fan of a team that has won exactly zero playoff series in the last 10 years and drafts roughly as well as Stevie Wonder plays darts.

Not sure anyone who is a fan of the Flames "organization" should be throwing rocks. Both bunches of yahoos should be ashamed of what they have done to these once proud franchises.

Backlund - 101 PT 246 GP 0.41 PT/GM 0 season over 40 PT and only 1 season over 30 PT.

It really wouldn't surprise me if the oilers have a hard time catching the flames even though the rebuild is supposed to be 5 years ahead. 5 YEARS

What on earth are you talking about?

Smarter management? The Flames tried duct taping their 2004 Cup roster for 8 years thinking if they could just get into the playoffs one more time Iggy and Kipper could carry them to the Cup. Lowe did the same thing in Edmonton but was smart enough to change course after 4 years instead of 8.

And let's not forget that beauty of an offer sheet to O'Reilly where they could have lost a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick plus O'Reilly through waivers. Oh yeah...reeeeeal smart lol.

Better development? Like who? They drafted Backlund 7 years ago and he's produced all of 1 season over 30 PT. They haven't developed a single good forward since Iggy. Brodie and Giordano are a nice pair on the blueline; they've been developing for 6 and 12 years respectively. Otherwise Calgary hasn't developed squat.

Better coaching? Bob Hartley? Surely you jest.

Better pro scouting...maybe. They traded Phaneuf for Stajan, Hagman, Mayers and White. Yep, really winners.

I suspect that people are right and Edmonton selects Leon 3rd overall because they just can't overlook his size. I won't be overly upset because he's a tremendous player who very well could be the answer for Edmontons' 2C. HOWEVER, I still think that Bennett will prove himself the better and more valuable player in the end. Letting him fall to Calgary will come back to haunt the Oilers for years to come.

The Flames and Oilers seasons are clearly reflected in their position in the draft - 3rd worst team and 4th worst team in the league. Nothing to stick your chest out about. Having said that, the Flames were competitive 95 per cent of the games last year. They battled, fought and competed which is much more than we can say about the Oilers. 4th last in the league and the knowledgeable Flame fans gave the team a standing ovation following the final game. The Oilers were hit and miss and stunk the joint out on many occasions. The knowledgeable Oiler fans showed their displeasure with repeated jersey tossing and booing the home team. And that my friends tells you all you need to know abou the two team's seasons. The Flames are due for a possible setback and the Oilers should improve. Stay tuned.

The mere fact that Florida is strongly offering up the first overall pick suggests that they are happy to trade down (away from Ekblad) to a scoring winger. That way they can get their man plus some nice additions thrown in on the trade. Then again, as Burke said, everyone lies and misleads going into draft day.

Almost as bad as signing Weidman for 5 mil.

Arguing about who has a worse run organization is arguing about a miniscule amount of suckness.

Yakupov and Gagner have never experienced one third on the ice in Edmonton. Yak does have some sick goal celebrations though, he might even be an all-star if that was the only criteria.

Yakupov was the consensus 1st overall and ended up being so. Those don't go back to junior. He had a sophmore jinx year, that happens a lot. Congrats for jumping on the "oh look bad year he must suck" bandwagon.

The Oilers learned from the Gagner mistake and sent Eberle down twice even though he basically won a job both training camps. Same with Nurse last year, he looked pretty much like the best Oiler D in camp but they sent him down.

Monahan had a lot to learn in junior. He was a massive surprise and had a great year. I hope he keeps it up for you guys. I'd like to see the real Battle of Alberta again someday.

Sven's played 51 NHL GP and 73 AHL GP. That is hardly "letting him ripen" before exposing him to the NHL. Nice try though.

From what I heard about the Oil, this was not the case last season. I do hope the Oil have a bounce back year in 2014-15, but really, last season must have been very painful for the fan base.

How is it possible to get 3 consecutive first round picks and add a hot commodity in J.Schultz , and get up to 24th place and then follow it up with barely a 28th place finish ? Boggles the mind how they have consistently surrounded their assets with such a terrible core to compliment them .

If Virtanen or Ritchie is picked, we riot.

If we traded down for either player and received quality back, I'd have no issue with it. I like the upside of both guys. But yes, you can't take them at 4. Virtanen is really young too and probably has the best physical tools in the draft. He's almost a full year younger than Reinhart or Draisitl.

Assuming Florida picks first (because they put too high a price tag on it):

1. Ekblad 2. Bennett 3. Draisaitl 4. Reinhart 5. Dal Colle 6. Ehlers 7. Fleury 8. Ritchie 9. Virtanen 10. Perlini

Florida now has their #1 goalie back in Luongo and their defence is young enough with some depth and they need some major offence from the forards so taking one of Bennett or Reinhart was where I was thinking they'd go...but...but...but with Campbell now wanting out they will....most likely pick up Ekblad at #1.

Buffalo was and likely is... going centre all the way in my mind... with one of Reinhart or Draisaitl.

But if I could perfectly predict the following I would say this is what may happen:

1. Reinhart - Florida/Vancouver 2. Draisaitl - Buffalo 3. Ekblad - Edmonton 4. Ritchie - Calgary (Burke takes over..lol) 5. N.Y.I either take Dal Colle or make trade.

If there is a trade here, I think Edmonton tries to make deal so as to pick up Bennett.

6. Bennett - Vancouver 7. Nylander - Carolina 8. Hayden Fleury - Toronto 9. Kapanen - Winnipeg 10. Perlini - Anaheim

This is what I am thinking and I will check out how close or far I come with this list after the first round tomorrow night.

But I know, know, know... that 99% of this wont occur so I am gonna have fun and see who out there differed and what they did.

So...Good luck to everyone else and their predictions!!!

Can we not have Canuck fans included in nation HQ posts? Please Kent?

Mock drafts are always fun and mostly wrong. Bet every mock draft last year had Jones going 1 or 2 and I doubt anyone had Barkov going 2nd.

It's highly likely Eklad goes 1st simply because Florida wants to win now and Ekblad is the most NHL ready. If Fld trades the pick every team but one is going after Ekblad.

Sit back, relax and watch it unfold. It should be fun to watch Pierre McGuire vent spleen if Nylander or Ehlers slide past 6 or 7.

Hey, hey, hey...

Let's not forget that Feaster's interpretation of the CBA allowed them to make that offer.

Feaster's interpretation.

In classic Oilers fashion, the year Eichel and McDavid are available, they will finish 9th and miss not only the playoffs, but the chance at picking the best player available in 8 years
