This is a very, very strange and sad video.
That game was a roller-coaster. The Flames still can't kill a penalty but Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan dragged the Flames across the finish line tonight in a game which would probably benefit from having copies of it destroyed. The Flames did a great job handling Buffalo Sabres not named Rasmus Ristolainen but did their best to lose a game they had in hand several times.
Oh well, a wins a win! Come have a look at how it all went down after the jump.

The waiver wire has probably been the most interesting part of the season so far across the league as fans get to yell into the internet at their teams for not picking up useful but expendable players from other (mostly better) teams. I do believe it may be one of hockey's most sacred traditions.
Well, the Flames will be wading into the waiver-waters again very soon so let's figure out who should be waived next. What Would You Do Wednesday returns and today we are talking waivers.

Well, breaking news folks: The Flames goaltending situation sucks. But you know what? Predicting goaltending sucks. It's exhuasting. If I had to think of a word to describe the Flames goalies heading into the year, I think 'stable' or 'decent' would have been pretty close to the top of the list. That is precisely the opposite of what they have been this year.
It's early, but let's start looking into the future for the Flames netminding situation in free-agency and trade options. There's a lot of movement around the league with goaltending and the Flames will likely be in a position to add some new faces in net. Let's see what you would do after the jump.

Most Calgarians have at least some familiarity with the name Father David Bauer. For most, it's that cold, oddly shaped rink near the University of Calgary and for others it is where one goes to gawk at would-be Olympians and World Junior hopefuls (though it seems Winsport has taken over most of those activities in recent years). There are seemingly a zillion rinks in Calgary, named after many different people from various walks of life so I am not here to lecture the reader for not knowing every fact about each arena's namesake.
However, one of Calgary's arenas is named after a man who had an enormous impact on Canadian hockey as both a coach and an ambassador of the game on the international stage. Father David Bauer was responsible for coaching numerous Hall of Famers, numerous Canadian Olympic Hockey teams, and was a pretty darn good player in his own right. But it's the story of something he didn't do that I want to get into today after the jump.

A lot of the complaints about the Flames this year have involved the amount of "dead weight" on the roster. This refers to players on large contracts who aren't contributing enough to justify their continued presence in the lineup, let alone their cap hits (think: Brandon Bollig, Mason Raymond, Ladislav Smid, etc).
Aside from the impending UFA's like Jiri Hudler, David Jones, and Kris Russell, the Flames have some interesting decisions to make on a couple of their more middling forwards as well. Both Josh Jooris and Joe Colborne are 25 years old and Restricted Free Agents at the end of this season and, if things don't turn around for the Flames quickly, might the Flames consider moving one or both of them if a team comes calling at some point this season? What would you do?
