Despite the two teams both coming into this game with .500 records, the Canucks showed that when they need to, they can bury a team with one foot in the grave. The Flames had put together some much needed wins. Even though they didn't look all that convincing, they had been able to hold on and out last their opposition. That just wasn't going to fly tonight however, and the Canucks made them pay by coming out strong and fast right from the get-go.

The Calgary Flames came into this game looking for redemption against the Blues for what was by far their worst game of the season. I don't know if you could definitively say they got it, but they got the win.. and in the end, that's all that matters. For most of the night, the Flames spent most of their time chasing the Blues and chasing the puck. Once again, shot totals were a concern, especially on the power play.

Or they are made with an effort to realize that they are moving in the wrong direction and they need a significant move to change the course of a sinking ship. Which category do the Flames belong in right now?

Well needless to say the first week of the 2011-12 season has not exactly gone as hoped. The Flames went 1-3 in their first four games, and well there are a lot of unhappy people in Flamesland. One of the bright spots this week though came in the Flames only win; a 4-1 victory over the Habs. Not only was it a win, but it was a good win for the team; and it was a pretty special evening in a different manner.

So here we are two games into the season and the proverbial vultures are already circling the Saddledome waiting to pick the bones of a lifeless team, hollowed out by empty promises and misguided optimism from a newly appointed GM.
Does that about say it all? Did I miss anything?
