There are bound to be plenty of nights in the remaining twelve games where the outcome is not of any significance or have any bearing on anything other than where the Flames will draft on June 30th in New Jersey. Tonight however, is not one one of those nights.

When you're 0 for 11 on the road and the team you are playing against is going for their seventh straight wins, you don't have a lot to be optimistic about. Especially when you look at your roster and as Kent noted, Cory Sarich is your third best defenseman. O.o
Nevertheless, Calgary still has to play the games and as Kent also alluded to, have their pride hanging in the balance; so it's still seems there are some important games left to play.
The good news?... The Sharks have only lost one game at home in regulation time, so you know depending what side of the fence you are on for this game, there is always that. And, in the end, tonight would turn out to be a win/win sort of night for your Calgary Flames. Why? Let's find out...

After Shelbyville showed us all that even a broken clock is right twice a day, the Battle of Alberta gamethread is back where it belongs. Oh and if you don’t get the reference in the title? Google is your friend.
Tonight, two teams on completely different roads will cross paths once again, where scoreboard watching will be put aside in favour of compulsory disdain and a sheer desire to lay the boots to one of your oldest rivals. Since 2009, it has been the Flames doing the majority of kicking, leading the head-to-head series 19-4.

Your Calgary Flames began a new chapter in this fabled franchise, but the theme remained constant. Having to compensate for a horrific road record, the Flames have been able to provide a counter balance with eight straight wins at home. It's the same story we here at Flames Nation have been telling for awhile now... The Jeckyll and Hyde team that is polar opposites depending which jersy they pull over their heads that night.
Tonight they would face a team again within reach in the standings with a realistic chance at victory. There's no place like home, but home is where the heart is, and after the team's biggest trade in almost two decades, there is a vast uncertainty as to if there is any heart left in Cowtown.
Tonight's line-up would also carry the Jeckyll and Hyde metaphor, as there was a complete and utter disconnect between the forwards, D-men and the keeper.
As you can probably guess by now... we can stop the counter on consecutive home wins. Here's how it went down...

Believe it or not, your Calgary Flames had already played this game before it started. Facing a team the night after they experienced a disappointing loss, and looking to make a statement.
Unlike when they faced the Dallas Stars in a similar situation, the Flames needed to have a game plan ready to go instead of just winging; that just never works out well for anyone on the team.
