In the first part of a special feature to the Nation Network, we are proud to introduce a guest columnist - WJC Team Canada alumni Brian Sutherby. As a member of the 2002 Silver Medal winning Canadian team, he knows a thing or two about a thing or two. And throughout the 2012 WJC he will be sharing his thoughts on the tournament and memories from his run to the Finals. - WG

Ten years ago today we were sitting at the breakfast table getting ready to match wits with a class at the U of A. The entire family was watching BBC News when they announced that a plane had accidentally crashed into the World Trade Center. As they cut to live footage and commentary, it was a matter of minutes until we saw the second plane crash into the second tower live.

Since ganking the Atlanta Thrashers, renaming them the Jets and releasing a spiffy new logo, Winnipeg is squarely on the National stage as they get ready to bring NHL hockey to Manitoba for the first time in 15 years. The City is hotter than the Keegan Bradley fan club and they are getting ready for one hell of a party.
With that in mind we fired up the imaginary WanyeJet and visited friendly Manitoba for the past several days. What we found was pretty bloody awesome.

You may be shocked to learn this, but since the departure of bingofuel there has been very little in the way of adult supervision around Nation Central Command. The writers continue to write, the radio continues to radio and thankfully the advertisers continue to pay their bills.

Some little kids have that special X factor that leave you saying "yep, that kid is gonna go somewhere someday." Take this little fella dancing his heart out to MJ at Safeco Field. Even though he is six years old - or thirty - we have no kids so can't tell how old they are unless we cut them in half and count their rings - he is already a champ.
