Canada's Hockey Team and their accompanying horde make the ritual appearance in Calgary this evening, and the recent trading history between the clubs is dominating the coverage of the affair. That's understandable, obviously, but I think I'll let the professionals beat that shared history to a pulp and concentrate on what the Leafs actually are at the moment.

The Flames are enjoying a last peaceful day before the onslaught of the blue-clad loons tomorrow evening, so it's as good a time as any for a look at a few items of interest. In this installment of the roundup, the Dion returns, one of the NHL's featured teams is in a ditch, and the City of Glendale decides financing a hockey team's purchase is a civic priority.

Calgary's relentless pursuit of mediocrity continues in Orange County this evening against a team who's record is flattering, frankly. The Ducks aren't very good at all, and this is a case where their underlying numbers are worse than their record by a fair distance.

The round-up is back after a few days' delay due to technical difficulties, so let's get to it. This week, the Flames turn a good effort into actual points in the standings, the Oilers lose a game and a valuable man, and the Board of Governors meet Matthew Hulsizer.

The Flames make a brief pit stop in town this evening before they head to the West Coast for a couple of matches, but tonight's affair is an interesting one to say the least. The Lightning have some pretty famous men in their employ, and have likely needed good work from all of them to overcome some horrific netminding.
