Last night's drowning of the Duck prospects served as a nice way to ease into the week for a group of players that will be the core of the 2010/11 Abbotsford Heat. Tonight, the Flame youngsters have a different challenge awaiting them, as they confront a few famous young men wearing the colours of the Auld Enemy.

For a first effort, the young Flames acquitted themselves quite nicely this evening, beating the Baby Ducks 8-4 in Penticton. The prospects were full value for the win, out-shooting their California counterparts 41-22 in a game where the ice tilted pretty hard from the second period onward.

September 12 News and Notes

Fall really is here, isn't it? That lovely crisp feel in the air after a few warm, muggy, months can be a relief for those us that live in a jurisdiction that actually has a summer. Of course, those of you living in Calgary have no idea what I'm talking about, so feel free to disregard the preceding sentence, but at any rate, the season is drawing inexorably nearer. In the round-up this week, the youngsters head to the Okanagan, the RFA pool shrinks, and PA might finally have its man.

Percentages

Rob Kerr's blogpost from earlier this evening got me thinking about the potential for an offensive bounce back from the Flames this season. He mentioned several of the usual suspects along the way, and I noticed that many of them had poor shooting percentage seasons in 09/10. I know luck doesn't always perfectly balance, but it did seem reasonable to examine the possibility that the club might expect more goals in 10/11 via the bounces.
