HOW WOULD THE 2013 DRAFT WORK?

After a lockout wiped out the 2004/2005 season the NHL had to come up with a plan on how to decide the draft order for the "Sidney Sweepstakes." Sidney Crosby had been heralded as the #1 choice for the 2005 draft since he was 14 years old, and now the NHL had the dubious task of trying to come up with a "fair" process to determine which franchise would choose him first overall.

In order for a movie to be considered great it needs to appeal to different generations. I’ve watched a few movies that I loved when I was 20, but today I don’t relate to them as much. A great movie, however, will be timeless and whenever you sit down and watch it will capture your imagination.
One of my father’s favourite movies was the 1967 classic, The Dirty Dozen. The star-studded cast included Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Sutherland, Telly Savales, Charles Bronson, star runningback Jim Brown and John Cassavetes who earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor as Viktor Franko.
Today marks the 12th anniversary of my father’s passing, clearly the reason The Dirty Dozen popped into my head, and each year as this day draws closer memories of Dad flood my brain. My wife, Traci, had never seen the movie so we watched it last night. The Dirty Dozen is still great, however, my mind wandered through most of it thinking about Dad.
CHLPA WANTS BETTER EDUCATION

With the NHL and NHLPA at odds again for the 2nd time in eight years many hockey people and fans have expressed their concern over the new CHLPA. Who is the CHLPA? What are their plans? The CHLPA has taken a beating for the past month. Some of the backlash was deserved due to their inexperience at PR, but most of it was unwarranted and came from the mouths of people who fear change.
I read a few stories claiming the CHLPA was looking for massive increases in CHL player's weekly salaries. Understandably that didn't sit well with most fans and people connected to CHL teams. Last weekend I ran into the Executive Director of the CHLPA, Georges Laraque at the Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer event. I asked him about the CHLPA and he said that today (last Saturday) was about charity, but he agreed to come on my show on Tuesday to discuss the CHLPA.
SHOULD POILE MATCH?

Shea Weber is smiling knowing that he will make $110 million for the remainder of his NHL career. That's some pretty sweet financial security for Weber, but I wonder what Preds' GM David Poile is thinking right now?
Does he match or take four first-round picks?
SCOUTING REPORT

Scouting isn't an exact science. Every scout has stories of a player they loved who never panned out, or a guy they weren't high on who played 10 years in the Show. There are rare exceptions, Sidney Crosby, where every scout ranks him #1 and labels him "can't miss."
Those players are very, very rare, and no player in the 2012 is a lock to be the next Crosby, but this draft class has a lot of very good to great players, and as usual not everyone has them ranked in the same spot.
I caught up with Mark Edwards from hockeyprospect.com and got his thoughts on a bunch of players, but we focused mainly on centres and D-men.
Hockeyprospect won't release their final rankings and complete draft guide until June, but Edwards chatted about who they liked, and why they recently ranked Alex Galchenyuk #1.
