If Patrice Bergeron is out for more than the first two games, the Bruins will be in tough against the Lightning. Bergeron has been great, and if he is out then the Nathan Horton line will have to carry more of the load. Horton's line was dominant against Philly, and it will be interesting to see if Eric Brewer and Matthias Ohlund can control that line starting Saturday.

CAST YOUR VOTE

In junior high or high school voting always seemed to be a popularity contest. You had the hot chick or the jock running for class president even though in most cases they were more interested in winning, rather than actually doing anything. I'm sure there were some who ran, and won, who really wanted to make a difference and improve the cafeteria food, or change the dress code. Today, I'm sure the Pres. argues for the right to update your facebook status in math class, or to wear belly shirts or other serious matters.

The scary part is that some of you probably voted in junior high, but you don't vote now. I don't care who you won't for to be honest, and I have no interest in trying to influence your vote, but if the country was to put a sports slant on voting I bet many of you would get to the polls before they close.

CRIMINAL?? I DON'T THINK SO

The Zdeno Chara hit has sent the country, okay, mainly a few politicians, an airline, an entire province and now the Police, into a frenzy. It was seven years ago this past Tuesday that Todd Bertuzzi jumped Steve Moore and the reaction wasn't close to the emotional outcry that we are witnessing right now.

HOW IMPORTANT ARE DRAFT PICKS?

Jason Gregor
February 25 2011 02:28AM

Every year during the month leading up to the NHL trade deadline there are heated debates in chat rooms, on blogs, at coffee rooms, around water coolers and here on the Nation about what is a fair or good return in a trade. It is much easier to debate when actual players are moved, but when people start tossing around draft picks the air becomes much more grey.

What is the true value of a draft pick? Is a 2nd rounder fair return on a eight-year veteran 3rd pairing D-man? Many of us seem to think it is, but is it really?

PETER CHIARELLI: GM GENIUS

Bruins GM, Peter Chiarelli traded Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 19th, 2009 for a first and second round pick in 2010 and a first rounder in 2011. This past June he used those picks to select Tyler Seguin and London Knight centre, Jared Knight, but it seems Chiarelli wants to trade this year's pick for someone who can help the Bruins right now.

Chiarelli was asked on WEEI radio in Boston if he'd consider trading Toronto's first round pick in 2011?

"Yeah, I'd look at it, sure. I've had discussions involving that pick. I certainly would look at it. We've got a lot of assets, so that alone allows us to be creative also … there's been one [deal] that we've thrown around here internally, I don't know that I would do it but it's something that warrants further discussion."

The last sentance is absolute brilliance on Chiarelli's behalf.
