THE QUEBEC CUP?

La Presse is reporting that the Quebec Hockey Federation is working on hosting the Quebec Cup in the first week of August in 2011. The National Quebec team will be made up of Quebec-born NHL players and they will play the National teams of France, Switzerland and Italy. Yes those hockey powerhouses Italy and France will be invading Quebec.

The Converse All-Stars are all the rage with the kids nowadays, and I can see why when they have super cool designs like a cast of video game all-stars sewn on them. Mario and Luigi automatically up the cool factor of any sneaker. But can the NHL connect the dots and up the cool factor of their All-Star game?

Scott Arniel (Right) and his teammates (R to L) Laurie Boschman, Dale Hawerchuk and Tim Watters were loving life and 7-Up in Winnipeg in the mid 1980s. Fast forward 25 years and Arniel finds himself as a rookie head coach with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He isn't promoting 7-Up and he's replaced his teammates with assistant coaches, Brad Berry, Bob Boughner and Dan Hinote. You think the 18, 19 and 20-year-old rookies have pressure in the NHL, imagine being a rookie head coach on a team that has never won a playoff game.

The game many of us grew up playing or watching will once again have to face one of its deepest and darkest secrets now that Graham James is back in Canada. This time around, I hope the hockey world embraces the victims and sets the stage for other victims to come forward because the hockey world will support them too.
