The last time these two teams met, the script went about how we predicted: Calgary's depth played well enough to make things interesting but in the end the Wings top-end talent prevailed. What wasn't expected, however, was just how vulnerable the Wings bottom-end would be. That's a weakness the Flames will likely hope to exploit in the second meeting tonight.

This is a bit of a data dump post. Here I will present the even strength scoring chance numbers for individual Flames over their initial 11 games. There aren't a lot of surprises for those who have been following along, although the numbers illuminate the relationship between scoring chances, possession and circumstances pretty well.

One of the more interesting coaching decisions by Brent Sutter thus far has been the matching of Olli Jokinen, Rene Bourque and Niklas Hagman against the other team's top lines. The season didn't begin that way, but Sutter has settled into that routine lately.
