A few weeks ago, word was that Daymond Langkow was nearing 100% and may be able to return to duty a lot sooner than expected. Cap problems bloomed in light of the news, but the Flames center depth wasn't in question. Fast forward to this past Wednesday morning and the situation has reverse itself: Langkow is out indefinitely, Stajan is down for the count and 'tweener Ryan Stone hasn't even skated yet. Calgary's cap problems have noticeably receded into the background, giving the stage to their sudden dearth of centermen.

Highlights
The Flames beat the Canucks kids/hopefuls yesterday in both games, 3-2 at home and 3-1 in Vancouver. I missed the action for both owing to some cable confusion, but the gamethread below has some on-the-fly observations for those looking for re-caps. Other thoughts and such are welcome in the comments.
Luckily, the NHL kept the stats for the games last night, so here are some items of interest:

I managed to catch a large portion of the Flames intra squad game this afternoon. Here are some of my thoughts and obseervations in no discernable order:
- The speed and intensity for what was a largely meaningless scrimmage was up there. It was, for example, far more interesting than the NHL all-star game (but what isn't right?). Nobody was taking a day off this afternoon and that included the vets.
