Now that the kids have been sorted, the real thing can begin this week. The Flames have posted their A and B rosters featuring 24 skaters each and 5 goalies total. The team designations are meaningful, as group A features mostly NHLers and veteran AHLers (including Cam Cunning and Mikael Backlund). Group B, on the other hand, is all kids and hopefuls, including new guys Steffan Meyer (D), JP Lamoreaux (G) and try-out Giffen Nyren (D).

John Down reports today that the Flames have sent many of their junior players back to their respective clubs. Leach, Reinhart, Holland and Bennett all played minor roles in the prospect tournament, which is not uncommon for 18 and 19 year olds. Also goiing back to junior is Cam Lanigan, who was released by the Flames without being inked. That Lanigan didn't stick with the organization is no surprise either after the youngster allowed a few softies against the Vancouver kids.

The contest will be largely meaningless for a number of folks on both sides, but you can bet Lanigan will have his game face on.
