Now that the kids have been sorted, the real thing can begin this week. The Flames have posted their A and B rosters featuring 24 skaters each and 5 goalies total. The team designations are meaningful, as group A features mostly NHLers and veteran AHLers (including Cam Cunning and Mikael Backlund). Group B, on the other hand, is all kids and hopefuls, including new guys Steffan Meyer (D), JP Lamoreaux (G) and try-out Giffen Nyren (D).

John Down reports today that the Flames have sent many of their junior players back to their respective clubs. Leach, Reinhart, Holland and Bennett all played minor roles in the prospect tournament, which is not uncommon for 18 and 19 year olds. Also goiing back to junior is Cam Lanigan, who was released by the Flames without being inked. That Lanigan didn't stick with the organization is no surprise either after the youngster allowed a few softies against the Vancouver kids.

The baby Flames face-off against the baby Canucks this aft, with guys like Jon Rheault and TJ Brodie looking to build on a couple of strong performances heading into the main camp. Undrafted Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender Cam Lanigan will get the start for Calgary today. The kid had a rough year behind the WHL's worst team last season and was passed over in the draft as a result. The contest will be largely meaningless for a number of folks on both sides, but you can bet Lanigan will have his game face on.

After leading the baby Flames over the baby Ducks with 3 goals and 5 points last night, a lot of questions are being asked about Jon Rheault. The 5'11", 200 pound winger was a late find by the Heat last year and has tread an interesting path to get to the Flames prospect camp.
