I attended both morning sessions for the forwards and defenders today, as well as a good portion of the mixed afternoon practice. Today was more about building some familiarity with the players overall and my observations will build as the week progresses. Obviously one day lacking any sort of game action is a poor barometer for a player's overall effectiveness, but I'll share what stuck with me nonetheless. Here are my thoughts in no particular order:

Pat Steinberg has already teed things up for the Flames Dev. Camp here. What he failed to mention was that both he and I will be in attendance throughout the week and we'll endeavor to cover the proceedings from a number of angles. I plan to share my general thoughts from the bleachers while Pat will be gleaning stuff from individual prospects from his own observations and interviews.

The sechdule for the week can be found here.

The camp roster is here.

Expect daily updates from now till Friday.

According to Rob Kerr, the Flames have added a head shrinker to the club's subtely changing front office this week. More specifically, drawing more penalties in order to score more powerplay goals.

With Ilya Kovalchuk finally ending the suspense with his decision to re-sign in New Jersey, the feeling is the rest of the dominoes will begin to fall in short order. That's only midly exciting news given the dearth of truely interesting players remaining on the free market. While not terribly relevant to the Flames currently, here's the list of somewhat engaging guys still looking for work.
