With the chaos of the World Juniors and the NHL lockout finally behind us, we're about to see a return to normalcy. Thus, this is the last weekend without NHL hockey until probably late June. With that, let's see what the Flames kids are up to.

If there was one event that cemented the stellar reputation of general manager Cliff Fletcher, it was the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. The names the Flames acquired that summer ranged from solid contributors to future hall-of-famers: Gary Suter (180th overall), Jiri Hrdina (159th overall), Brett Hull (117th overall), Paul Ranheim (38th overall), and the best pick of them all (for the Flames purposes anyways), first rounder Gary Roberts (12th overall).
2013 Flames Training Camp Preview

The lockout is over! Training camp for the abbreviated 2013 NHL campaign will begin some time this week.
Approximately 30 to 33 players will be invited to training camp, according to Jay Feaster on The Fan960 recently. Breaking it down, however, it's patently obvious that there won't be a lot of true roster battles.

We're finally here at the final day of the 2013 edition of the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. Four Flames prospects have the chance to fly home with medals, although three of them won't need to win to bring back hardware.

The holiday season is both a quiet and busy time for hockey.
On one hand, most junior, college and pro teams get time off from regular play for the holidays. On the other hand, there are a lot of international and other tournaments that take place over the holiday break.
