We're into the holiday season, which means that junior kids are off to World Junior camps, that college schedules are sparse to allow for final exams, and various European club teams are off to allow for holiday tournaments.
What better time to assess how the various Flames prospects are doing this year?
Wotherspoon to Russia, Brossoit back to Edmonton

It's hard to figure out who got the best of the Team Canada World Junior cuts on Thursday evening.
Flames sixth round pick – and WHL playoff MVP – Laurent Brossoit was the last goaltender cut from the selection camp roster, despite allowing only two goals all week. Remaining in camp (and soon to head to Europe) are Malcolm Subban, Jordan Binnington and Jake Paterson.
Flames kids survive first Team Canada cuts

Although they aren't exactly favorites to make the team, a pair of Calgary Flames prospects survived first cuts at Team Canada's World Junior team selection camp on Wednesday evening.
Despite five guys getting cut from the Team Canada preliminary roster – leaving 31 bodies in camp – goaltender Laurent Brossoit of the Edmonton Oil Kings and defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon of the Portland Winterhawks have survived.

After weeks of anticipation, six Calgary Flames prospects got the call from their respective countries. Each player was invited to try out for his respective Under-20 National team to represent them at this December's IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Ufa, Russia.
