Ferland charged with assault

News broke this afternoon that Calgary Flames prospect Michael Ferland has been charged with one count of assault and one count of aggravated assault related to an incident late last month in Cochrane, Alberta, according to the Calgary Sun. Ferland was allegedly involved in an altercation outside of a Cochrane bar on July 29th and is now facing charges relating to that altercation.

Closing out FlamesNation's lengthy prospect interview series is a guy with a familiar name to Calgary hockey fans – Dustin Sylvester.
A native of Kelowna, and older brother of Calgary Hitmen forward Cody Sylvester, Dustin racked up 252 points in 308 games with the WHL's Kootenay Ice. Undrafted and looking to play pro, he headed to Europe to suit up for EHC Freiburg of Germany's secondary league. He put up 60 points in 48 games and earned a look-see from the Flames organization in the form of a camp try-out in Abbotsford.
