There's a whole lotta hockey going on, folks. For your reading pleasure, here's a rundown of what's what.
The Calgary Flames (0-2-1) renew acquaintances with their neighbours to the north, the dastardly Edmonton Oilers (2-1-0), on Saturday night as part of Hockey Night in Canada. The Flames represent all that is good and true with the world, while the Oilers are smelly and aren't that good at the hockey. Want proof? This will be the 211th meeting between these two hockey clubs, and the hockey team from Calgary is 104-84-22 overall.

As we head into the meat of this list, we hit the rarefied air of all-time NHL greats. Among them lies the pride of Oshawa, Ontario, centreman (and current general manager of the Dallas Stars) Joe Nieuwendyk.

The first meeting of 2013 between the Calgary Flames and their bitter rivals, the Vancouver Canucks, started off as a bit of a snoozer. Both teams played as poorly as they had in their two previous regular season games to date. However, after a lacklustre first period, the game turned into quite the barn-burner and a play-off like showcase of what Sportsnet's Rob Kerr would call “big boy hockey.”
After falling behind 2-0, much like their early effort against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, the Flames battled back and earned their first point of the season in a 3-2 shootout loss. While the talent level of the Flames may be up for some debate, their heart has been on display in the last two games.

The Calgary Flames remain winless after a sometimes-ugly, sometimes-exciting 5-4 home loss against the Anaheim Ducks (of Anaheim).
The contest was a microcosm of the entire season to date – both games of it. Jarome Iginla? One point (an assist), but largely invisible. The third line of Lee Stempniak, Matt Stajan and Roman Horak? Full of pep. The Flames? Tremendously inconsistent and unable to finish most of their chances.
