Postgame: That Thing You Do

The sun sets at night and rises again in the morning.  Lindsay Lohan abuses substances.  And the Calgary Flames beat the Edmonton Oilers.  From what I've seen in my lifetime, those trends don't seem to be changing, and on Saturday night, the Flames continued that trend with another all-too-easy victory in Edmonton, this time by a 6-2 score.  It finishes off a successful three game road trip for the Flames, where they earned five of a possible six points.

FGD: Quick Work

The title above refers to two things: the amount of efffort I'm putting into this post on a Saturday morning after a rare Friday night off, and what the Flames should make of the Oilers tonight at Rexall Place.  After a solid two game stint in California, Calgary traveled to a much less prime destination yesterday for their fourth meeting with Edmonton tonight (8pm, CBC and Sportsnet 960).

Postgame: Somehow...

The Calgary Flames have scored just four regulation goals in their last four games, yet they've won a pair of those games and have five of a possible eight points.  It's not what you'd call a sustainable brand of hockey, but it's worked to this point, and they picked up another win Thursday night by taking a 2-1 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings.

FGD: Royal Challenge

It was just five days ago when we saw Darryl Sutter's LA Kings come in and snap a winning streak, taking a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.  Now with seven points seperating them in the Western Conference, the Flames hope to close the gap tonight when they continue a three game roadtrip at the Staples Center (8:30 pm, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960).

Postgame: Take the Point

Continuing a really tough stretch, the Calgary Flames did most of what they could for success against a pretty good opponent, but in the end, the Flames kicked off a three game road trip falling 2-1 in a shootout at the hands of the San Jose Sharks.  Miikka Kiprusoff was outstanding along the way, as Calgary wasn't able to hold a one goal lead heading into the final frame.
