Calgary's 2-1 shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night saw the Flames play a pretty mediocre game and still come away with two points.  Calgary decided to play with fire for a second straight game, letting an inferior opponent control the hockey game for far too long, and this time it cost them.  The Flames had their four game win streak snapped Thursday thanks to a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders.

FGD: Five Golden Wins?

Regardless of how they arrived at their fourth straight win on Tuesday night in Columbus, the Calgary Flames did and continued a very impressive month of December in the process.  It was a nice way to start off a six game road trip that continues tonight as the Flames look to keep their season high winning streak going against the lowly New York Islanders (5 pm, Sportsnet Flames and Sportsnet 960).

Postgame: Points, Points...PointsPointsPointsPoints

It's been said a lot how the Calgary Flames aren't a team that can play just one good period and win a hockey game.  Well, on Tuesday night they played one decent period and were able to take a 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, winning a fourth consecutive game for the first time this season.  It wasn't a pretty one, but it's points the Flames need as they continue racking up points in the month of December.

FGD: Keep on Giving

The Calgary Flames gave their fans a couple of nice Christmas gifts prior to this weekend, thanks to impressive and well earned wins over the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks. Both teams were on very lengthy runs and both teams are considered among the elite for a reason; both times, the Flames utilized a solid gameplan to skate to regulation victory.  Now they've got Columbus, the NHL's worst team, as Calgary looks for a fourth straight win (5 pm, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960).

FGD: Christmas Wishing

Following a very solid outing to finish their 2011 home schedule on Thursday night, the Calgary Flames complete their pre-Christmas schedule tonight against the Vancouver Canucks (8 pm, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960).  Calgary's 3-2 win over Detroit at the Saddledome was a nice way to finish off their home schedule for this year, so how about we see them give us a nice Christmas gift with a win over those twits on the coast.
