Celebrity Engulfed by Fans on Red Carpet

It was a meeting of the ages, as for the second time, FlamesNation superstar Kent Wilson joined FlamesNation...guy...Pat Steinberg on Fan 960 airwaves.  It happened at the fateful time of 1:45 pm Thursday afternoon, and the gold standard of radio was set for years to come. 

None of that is true, other than Kent joining me Thursday, but it's the second of many more radio hits to come.

Where is the Line?

According to new Flames Assistant General Manager Jay Feaster, talks are not going at a promising pace when it comes to a new contract for defenceman Ian White.  It seems more and more likely that the two sides will end up meeting on July 30th in Toronto for salary arbitration.  What that means for the Flames is yet to be determined.

Is There a Fit?

Kent wrote a great piece last week analyzing Calgary's strength and depth on the blueline, asserting that decisions will need to be made ahead of opening night in October.  Well, another wrinkle was added on Sunday afternoon when the Flames announced the signing of Matt Pelech to a one year contract.  Now my question is...how does the guy fit?

Two Out of Three

No offence to Brian McGrattan and Jamal Mayers, but there were three pending free agent players Flames fans were most interested in when it comes to their future destinations.  Of those three, Craig Conroy, Eric Nystrom and Chris Higgins, only the former remains on the free agent market.  So how will the fits be for Higgins and Nystrom in their new locales?  And where, if anywhere, will Conroy end up?

When Calgary Flames GM spoke on Friday morning, many were interested in his take on his signing of Olli Jokinen, and how he'd heard only positive response.  But as people digested and opined on Sutter's decision to re-sign the former Flame, I was more interested in the GM's take on another center: Daymond Langkow.
