A day after a strong performance minus the correct result in Detroit, the Flames were unable to pull things out at Madison Square Garden, falling 2-1 in their only meeting with the New York Rangers.  It was a game filled with hard hitting, chippy play...and one crushing hit delivered by Marc Staal to Calgary's Matt Stajan.  Regardless, the Flames are three games below the .500 mark heading into New Jersey on Wednesday.

Depending on how things go tonight in the Big Apple, Calgary could either be riding an impressive three game point streak, or be staring at consecutive losses once again. And the way things are right now, the perception of this team seems to swing wildly back and forth by the hour.  Nevertheless, the Flames invade Madison Square Garden tonight for their first and only meeting this season with the Rangers (5 pm, Sportsnet West and The Fan 960).

That one stings.  Despite carrying a 3-1 lead heading into the third period, and holding a 4-2 lead into the final half of the third period, the Calgary Flames fell 5-4 to the Detroit Red Wings in overtime, starting off a five game road trip on a sour note.  It was a game with plenty of Calgary positives, and one of their best periods in recent memory...yet the Flames have just one point to take from it.

After a 7-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, the Calgary Flames look to get on some sort of a streak as they start off an extremely tough looking five game road trip this afternoon in Detroit (3 pm, Sportsnet Flames and The FAN 960).  Calgary still sits two games below the .500 mark as they prepare for their third game against the Red Wings this season.

The Calgary Flames found the back of the net, and found the back of the net often on Friday night, taking a 7-2 win at home over the Chicago Blackhawks.  It was a strong game pretty much from start to finish for the home side, and thanks in part to a three goal night from Jarome Iginla, the Flames snapped a three game losing skid and did it against a pretty good opponent.
