Kinda tough to do anything when you have no picks in the first round, and the Calgary Flames didn't do much (anything) on Friday night, much to the chagrin of many of their fans who were hoping for a big splash. There was plenty of action on the draft floor, headlined by a historic night for Calgary's provincial foes in Edmonton. However, on day one of action at the NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles, the Flames could only be observers.

After much fenagling, FlamesNation and The FAN 960 are on the draft floor right now. As Kent has his draft day thread open, I'll be posting everything that I hear and see right here. Anything we hear on the Flames front will go up as an article on the site right away. So lets get this thing going!

The Calgary Flames don't have the greatest prospects here in Los Angeles ahead of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. With no first or second round pick, many of the top players will have passed the team by before they draft for the first time in the third round. So will the Calgary Flames make a move to get themselves into the top 60 picks? Or the better question is, CAN the Flames get themselves into the top 60 picks?

Darryl Sutter isn't talking a lot down in Los Angeles, but I did get a few interesting tidbits out of his conversation with The FAN 960 that will run later today. The Flames don’t have a first round draft pick; in fact, they don't have a second round draft pick, so just what do we expect from them down here?

As the draft approaches on Friday, I figured it'd be good to get the final two pending Flames UFA's out of the way. So far, we've covered Conroy, Higgins and Nystrom, with debate going both ways on each guy. I think the final two will have much less debate surrounding them, as we move to Jamal Mayers and Brian McGrattan.
