It's the biggest game of the season (we all know that), against a team the Calgary Flames have yet to beat this season. That's why some find it odd to see the Calgary Flames start Vesa Toskala in net over Miikka Kiprusoff tonight in Denver.

There's a chance Nigel Dawes will return to the Calgary Flames lineup tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, which leads some to wonder, "Where the heck has he been?"

I know that Kent here at FlamesNation and a few others have wondered about the decision to not have Mikael Backlund in the Calgary Flames lineup the last three games, and to instead dress Craig Conroy. It's an interesting debate, because Backlund is a player who has shown he can be a useful player at this level. But the question is, if the coaching staff isn't going to use him, should he remain at this level?

You know, when I found out the NHL wasn't going to suspend Matt Cooke for his hit on Marc Savard, it bugged me but didn't surprise me. It just drove home how much I, and so many others, can't deal with guys who play the game like he does. It's too bad, because I've always felt Cooke brings something to a hockey team, but he's a dirtbag, plain and simple, which de-values any of the good he does. But the whole thing also made me realize how much I appreciated players like Calgary's Jamal Mayers.

It's funny, I never thought this would be that much of a topic, but it has been the last three Overtime shows on The FAN 960. Calgary has played four games since the Olympic break, and has had a pretty consistent lineup in those games. The only changes they've made have been subtle. Conroy in for Backlund. Staios in for Pardy, due to a trade. Other than that, things have been pretty static. So where does this leave Brian McGrattan?
