It's funny, I never thought this would be that much of a topic, but it has been the last three Overtime shows on The FAN 960. Calgary has played four games since the Olympic break, and has had a pretty consistent lineup in those games. The only changes they've made have been subtle. Conroy in for Backlund. Staios in for Pardy, due to a trade. Other than that, things have been pretty static. So where does this leave Brian McGrattan?

It seems as if a few recent issues surrounding the hometown hockey heroes have been rolled up into one ugly, messy, filth-ball. So, I've tried to separate things. There's my previous post on the woes plaguing the team, and now another recent Calgary Flames issue: deadline deals.

I get a chance to sit back and chat with Calgary Flames fans after each and every game the Flames play. It's a really enjoyable thing to do — it's a passionate group of fans; they love their team, and they hate to see the team they love play poorly. Which was why Wednesday's 4-0 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Wild was so disappointing.

Space was at a premium at Flames practice this morning, as the Calgary Flames had their first practice with their three Olympians back in the city. After a two-week break, the Flames are healthy, which means a ton of bodies on the ice and only 20 slots open against Minnesota on Wednesday.

So 17 days of podium owning and nationwide togetherness (or whatever) has come to an end, and all eyes return to the NHL. After an epic Olympic hockey tournament, three members of the Calgary Flames return to the city with hardware... a certain golden captain and his two bronzed Scandinavian teammates.
