There hasn't been a lot to be happy about this year as a Flames fan, unless you count Olli Jokinen's 1,000th game (and you shouldn't). But Jarome Iginla's milestone goal is certainly one of them.

1. Will the real Calgary Flames please stand up?
Only a bad shootout win over the worst team in the league separates Calgary from being 0-3-2 in their last five, all of which were against teams either at or below the 7th place spot at the time of puck drop. In short, it hasn't been a good week.

1. Maybe they can beat good teams
Last week I was roundly criticized for being too hard on the team by saying they weren't that good and maybe, as it turns out, those critics were right. I wrote of how underwhelming the Flames' performance against the Wild — a team with 45 points at the time — had been and lamented that the Red Wings and Canucks, teams who had won a boatload of games in the previous two weeks, almost all by terribly convincing scores, would likely kill the Flames where they stood.

A little more than a week after a series of wins against soft opponents prompted many to believe the team was primed for a run, a stretch of games against teams that are actually good has laid bare the teams' real faults.

This week consider the Flames aspirations for the playoffs, Brendan Morrison's refusal to go away and I have become a hesistant fan of Blake Comeau.
