This week consider the Flames aspirations for the playoffs, Brendan Morrison's refusal to go away and I have become a hesistant fan of Blake Comeau.
Five Things: It's been an interesting week

(Ryan Lambert makes his triumphant return to FlamesNation today with his new weekly column "five things")
Here are five things I've been thinking about the Flames this week:
1. This team has a real perception problem
That much should be obvious to anyone at this point. The issue is not (or at least no longer just) that they believe that this is a team that can compete for a playoff spot, or even that they think simply being able to compete for a playoff spot is an acceptable level for a franchise making this type of financial commitment to the team.

Occasionally at Flames Nation we will intercept some email correspondence into and out of the Scotiabank Saddledome. This is one of those times.
Hi Sven,
You've been doing a great job in Penticton so far (Joni Ortio not so much) and I wanted to say thanks. You've really been creating a lot of chances, and it's really encouraging to see a player who's Flames property under the age of 27 actually play like he wants a job in the NHL one day. Very refreshing. Like a tall, cool glass of milk with a nice afternoon snack of cookies.

With Daymond Langkow traded, Jay Feaster has to figure out what the hell it is he thinks he's doing. And fast.
The problem I have — as any observer of the Calgary Flames, partial or impartial, with a brain should — with the Daymond Langkow trade is that it quite literally doesn't make any sense from any angle.
Chris Osgood retired. Who cares?

You're going to hear a lot of talk in the coming week about Chris Osgood. A lot of that talk is going to include the word "great."
And all of it is going to be 100 percent incorrect.
