After successfully not drowning or cramping up during my first triathlon sprint over the weekend, I spent Sunday and Monday catching up on the hockey world. I was shocked
not at all to see that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman had once again done nothing to deter a GM from spouting off, found some interesting arbitration comparables, was perplexed at the reaction of some Oiler fans, heard that Toronto might be getting a new rink (and possibly another team) and the NHL has some realignment plans.

Hockey Prospectus' writer Corey Pronman recently released his Flames top-10 prospects list. Brent Sutter dropped Hagman into the bottom-six rotation by the end of the season and Feaster eventually put him on waivers.

Most Flames fans probably remember Patrick Thoresen as a part-time grinder who played for the Oilers and Flyers a few years back. Other might recall he suffered a truly horrible injury blocking a shot in Philadelphia before fleeing the NHL for Europe. The truth is Thoresen was probably a better player than he appeared during his cup of coffee in the NHL and he's established himself as one of the best players outside the league since he bolted.
