Lots of controversy to go around tonight. Karlsson or Kipper? It probably doesn't matter because predicting which goalie is going to better during a single game is a bit of a fools errand. Especially since Kipper isn't all that great anymore. Im sure if the Flames lose by a couple of goals Sutter will have to explain himself afterwards.
Then there's the return of the prodigal son Tim Erixon. Expect much rejoicing if he messes up or ends the night -2 or worse. Also - the bitching for a number one center might reach a fever pitch if Brad Richards has a good game tonight.
So yeah...lots to chat about.

One of the most tenuous Calgary Flames issues this summer surrounded the team not signing end eventually trading former first round pick Tim Erixon. He's now a member of the New York Rangers and he'll be in the lineup tonight when the Blueshirts make their only visit to Calgary this season (7:30 pm, TSN and Sportsnet 960). It's game two of a six game homestand for the Flames, which they started on the right foot Tuesday night.

Every Thursday we're using the Snepsts system to project how many points each of the Flames may score this year. The Snepsts system, explained over at Hockey Prospectus, searches history for players with similar statistics (adjusted for era scoring levels) and uses their future performance as yardsticks for today's.
We've already looked at most of the Flames key forwards and key defensemen, and this week we'll look at some of their secondary defensemen: Cory Sarich, Chris Butler, Scott Hannan and Brett Carson.

Well needless to say the first week of the 2011-12 season has not exactly gone as hoped. The Flames went 1-3 in their first four games, and well there are a lot of unhappy people in Flamesland. One of the bright spots this week though came in the Flames only win; a 4-1 victory over the Habs. Not only was it a win, but it was a good win for the team; and it was a pretty special evening in a different manner.
