Curtis Glencross' recent deal has been met, in large part, with acceptance amongst the fan base, NMC notwithstanding. The Provost native has been a consistent presence in the Flames' top nine since his arrival from Shelbyville in the summer of 2008, regularly outshooting and outscoring his competition along the way.
His new deal more than doubles his past ticket to a cap average of 2.55M per season through 2015, a figure that did get me wondering if there were any players that seemed to match Glencross' role and salary in the wider world, and if their contract year performance was analogous to what we've witnessed from number 20 this past year.

The response to Jay Feasters recent inauguration as the Flames GM has been ambivalence at best. While the move away from the Darryl Sutter era has been roundly considered the right move, some have pointed to Feaster's draft and trade track record in Tampa as areas of concern. The former Lightning GM has made some indications recently, however, that this move may be a good one for the organization.
In my series on the rise and fall of Darryl Sutter, I noted that his early success led to a cult of personality in town, where Sutter became a sort of unquestioned, autocratic ruler within the organization. I posited this sort of insular, rigidly top-down structure led to organizational biases, blindspots and groupthink, resulting in Sutter's eventual fall from grace.

NationRadio is a weekly show that airs from 12-2 PM on Team 1260 in Edmonton and is also podcast from OilersNation.com. The show focuses on the history of the NHL and the Oilers and chats with some of the biggest names in the MSM and blogospheres. NationRadio has been on the air for 15 episodes and we intend to bring it to more Canadian markets as we can figure out how exactly that would be done exactly.
There are often FlamesNation fellas on the show and so we will post segments from the episodes that are pertinent to the Flames or larger league topics. Never would we dream to soil your site with Oilers smut talk.
Speaking of Smut Talk - check out this Japanese "music video" that our main man @ounyea tweeted at us earlier.

So it's looking pretty much like the NHL is coming back to Winnipeg.

Party like it is your last night could take on a whole new meaning tonight if you Harold Camping. Camping, a preacher from Oakland, California, is confidently predicting the Second Coming of the Lord. At about 6pm, on May 21st (yes 6 p.m in every time zone strangely enough) he reckons two per cent of the world's population will be immediately "raptured" to Heaven; the rest of us will get sent straight to the Other Place.
The scary thing about Camping, is that he isn't alone. Every day he speaks to his followers via the Family Radio Network. They own 66 stations across the States and they are funded solely by donations from listeners, and currently they have a whopping 120 million in assets. ( I thought the Nation rocked when we raised 2,000 to go sent Brownlee to the draft a few years ago.)
I guess Sir Wanye is going to have up his game to get more than three people listening to his "Wanye's world vision hour" Internet podcast. According to Camping my chances aren't good I'll be "raptured" (whatever the hell that means), so I and all of you, because let's be honest, none of us fit into Camping's 2%, will try to go out with a bang this weekend.
