With just fifteen games left in the regular season, the story is a simple one - do or die. It's a cliche that many teams throw around this time of year and for most of them it is true to varying degrees. In the case of the Calgary Flames, it has literally been the writing on the wall for the 2011-12 campaign.

Remember "Every Game Matters"? We know the fans have. It has been the butt of too many jokes for the past sixty-seven games. Beneath the sarcastic jokes, we the fans, the city, the ones that can't do a thing to effect any change, seem to be the only ones taking the mantra to heart.

Tim Jackman went down after one shift against the Habs last night, making the Flames injured list the longest it's been in recent memory. That's the bad news. The good news is the team may use their emergency recall to give Sven Baertschi an early and unexpected NHL debut.

1. Do you guys give up?

"Calgary's only TWO points out of a playoff spot!"

That's what people are telling themselves these days. I think about six different stories in the Herald and Sun this week have been about more or less that thing: The Flames are tantalizingly close to the playoffs, and yet so, so far away. With just 15 games remaining on the schedule, they're still on the outside looking in, but we're told that if they can just keep winning, they can still sneak in.
