That was by far the most entertaining game we've seen this year at the Scotiabank Saddledome, and sometimes when you go to a shootout, the coin flips the other way.  That's what happened on Saturday night as the Calgary Flames battled back to tie the game on three seperate occasions, but ultimately never lead, falling 4-3 in a shootout to the now eighth place Los Angeles Kings.

The First Overall Pick: Avoid Nugent-Hopkins

As it stands today, at least four players have a legitimate shot at going first overall: defenceman Adam Larsson of the Swedish Elite League, and forwards Sean Couturier, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Gabriel Landeskog.

After looking through the numbers, I’m convinced that Nugent-Hopkins would be the wrong selection.

The Calgary Flames hook up with the Los Angeles Kings for the third time this season, but for the first time, the teams play with significant stakes on the line (8 pm, CBC and Sportsnet Radio FAN 960).  Both teams enter with 58 points and both teams enter on the outside looking in of the Western Conference playoff race.
