With a five game losing skid punctuated by a 9-0 loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday night, the Calgary Flames look to pick themselves up tonight against the Minnesota Wild (8 pm, CBC and Sportsnet 960). It's the first Flames home game since December 22nd and it gives the team an opportunity to erase what has been a really ugly stretch. With injuries and callups, it'll be a new look Calgary team tonight.

Reports coming down today that the Flames have dealt Brendan Mikkelson to the Tampa Bay Lightning for forward Blair Jones.
Mikkelson was acquired on waivers from the Ducks last season, but never really got a foothold in the Calgary organization. He spent most of his time as healthy scratch last year and has been plying his trade for the Abbotsford Heat this season.

I don't really like introductory posts because I find them to be quite self-congratulatory, but I'll do my best to keep this one comfotable for everyone to read.

In a season full of bad performances, the Calgary Flames sunk to their lowest depths Thursday night, finishing their seven game stretch away from home with an embarrassing 9-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. The debacle of monumental proportions started just 74 seconds in and didn't end until Daniel Paille scored Boston's ninth of the night shorthanded at 8:43 of the third period. You can make it five straight losses for Calgary after this one.
