Every Thursday we're using the Snepsts system to project how many points each of the Flames may score this year. The Snepsts system, explained over at Hockey Prospectus, searches history for players with similar statistics (adjusted for era scoring levels) and uses their future performance as yardsticks for today's.
P3L Suspended for Five Games

Scott Cruicshank reported via twitter that Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond has been suspended for five games thanks to his hit from behind during the game in Vancouver on Tuesday. Leblonde was given a two minute boarding penalty and a 10 minute misconduct at the time.

Training camp is in full swing, and that means that the proper business of hockey is underway, so a review of some of the news around the league is in order. In this week's go-round, the Flames get the roster down to a more reasonable configuration, the Jets have a noisy start to their exhibition campaign, and Brendan Shanahan has a full plate three nights in to the pre-season.

Brent Sutter and Jay Feaster reduced the training camp clutter today, cutting some 19 players. Most aren't terribly surprising, with a huge bulk of the guys being assigned to Abbotsford.

Pat Steinberg has a good overview of the Flames home game here. Unlike him, though, I wasn't at the Saddledome rubbing shoulders with the important people. Instead I stayed at home and switched between internet feed and SNET broadcast so I could catch as much action as possible.
