Ironincally by far the Flames best game all season by this metric ends in a loss. Aside from the first 5-10 minutes, the Flames dominated possession and scoring chances at ES. Jokinen and Glencross spent most of their time in the d-zone against Nash so their chance numbers aren’t good, but the rest of the roster beat up on the Blue Jackets depth guys. Unfortunately, Kipper let in a softy near the end of the game, setting things up for Nash GTG and the eventual SOL.

Calgary’s third line of Backlund/Comeau/Stempniak was particularly dominant tonight, grossly outchancing the bad guys. TJ Brodie continued to satdn-out on the blueline as well despite a heavier workload against tougher competition. Tanguay had his single best game in recent memory by this metric as well, which is good news for a guy who looked utterly lost about a week ago.

Tough loss for the Flames. They were definitely the better team this evening.

  • Wow. I didn’t watch most of the game (but somehow managed to catch the collapse at the end). These numbers look like the massive domination you would expect against the worst team in the league. Too bad it was entirely wasted.

Brodie and Smith the past couple games have been great. Lets hope those two keep it up if Gio is going to be absent for an extended period.
