After weeks of madness with the draft and free agency, we take a look at what teams did and more

In the roundup we go around the Nation Network and give you some of the best articles of the last couple weeks. Every once in a while it’s good to know what other teams are doing, or maybe you find an interesting article you would have never found otherwise.

If Flames Nation is the fans, then I’m confused.

Last I checked the Saddledome gave a standing ovation to their team after a 6-5 loss to Nashville at the end of the season. I was there. It was a collective appreciation for guts and heart and fight.

How many times did the Oilers get booed by their faithful last year? How many jerseys were tossed on the ice in disgust? None in our barn.

Seems to me that Flames fans are excited and optimistic. Probably because we don’t have Lanny as President, Joel Otto as GM, and Roberts and Fleury as assistant coaches.

there have been some tossed jerseys in both barns:

that vid was from April 2012. I am disgusted by anyone who thinks this is ok or thinks this represents the players/fans of either organization as a whole.

          Disgusted? Really?

Fans paying hundreds for a seat or thousands for season tickets, watching a terrible product on the ice season after season, who are not allowed to demonstrate their discontent in different ways (can’t bring a sign, for example), can’t even throw a jersey they bought from a seat they paid for when frustrated?

Get real, man. It’s just an overpriced piece of cloth sold to you by a team that sees you as a walking, talking pinata full of money (who conveniently does their advertising for them).

    • The consolation for me personally is that our hurt doesn’t come from failure. Our hurt comes from natural growing pains from rebuilding a team properly. Your hurt on the other hand… well let’s just say I’m glad I’m not an Oilers fan.

Not a lot of hurt, actually. Don’t go by the Lambert article. He’s a “Flames fan” whose articles are intentionally negative. Imagine a Flames fan writing a article on the Oilers with the intention of pissing off their fans.

It may not show in the standings, but the Flames are poised to take a big step next year as an organization.
