Two games that could have impact on Calgary’s playoff hopes are featured on tonight’s out-of-town scoreboard watch!

At 6pm MT, the Dallas Stars (60 points) visit the St. Louis Blues. The Blues are 18 points up on the Stars, who themselves are seven back of Calgary with a game in hand. Dallas recently lost Tyler Seguin for a moderate term and really, really need points to stay with the pack, having been leapt over in recent weeks by Los Angeles and Minnesota in the playoff race.

Also at 6pm MT, the San Jose Sharks (66 points) visit the Nashville Predators. Good news and bad news for the Sharks. Good news? They’re in a playoff spot, and are just a smidge behind the Flames, Canucks and Jets for a better playoff spot. The bad news? They’ve played 58 games, and they’re being pursued by the Wild and Kings, both of whom hold a game in hand. The Predators can do a big favour to the rest of the West with a win tonight, which would give Calgary a one-point edge with two games in hand, and give Los Angeles and Minnesota three games in hand. The Sharks really, really need the win tonight, while the Predators are hoping to round into form as the playoffs get closer to beginning.

The Sharks look in danger of falling out of the playoff picture and it will either be LA or the Wild in the 2nd wild card spot. Looks like Dallas didn’t miss Seguin too much tonight… but I’m sure they will over the home stretch.

Man a win against the wild would go a long way to giving us a little separation now that the sharks have lost again. I’m tired of everybody being within single points of eachother. But the wild are going to be a tough out, and a win the flames really could use after the debacle in LA last week and a nevrewracking performance against Boston the other night. Because in this playoff race the next team you here that loses 3 or 4 games in a row will be below 5 other teams and completely out of it.
