Oilers draft class from last couple of years (Draisaitl , Nurse , McDavid and recently acquired Reinhart ) all look ready to stick on main club . Somewhat different from previous years where usually only one blue chip player made it a year ( Hall, Hopkins and Yakupov) . Will the new wave of blue chip youth combine with the other youth already in place to finally get Oilers back in the playoff hunt ? Highly unlikely they could be any worse overall than last couple of years with another young core like that. All set to enter at same time by the looks of it . The Oilers should certainly look and play much different this year with a talent like McDavid and his youthful supporting cast to add to mix .

McLellan said yesterday on the radio that If Nurse and Draisaitl are in the opening day roster it’s because they have absolutely earned that position. So if they are in the lineup people can stop bitching about young stars being gifted jobs. I’ll trust what McLellan says.

      • Train#97

Oh you mean pretty much exactly aping the Flames “Nothing given, everything earned” mantra? Not the sort of thing in its 8th year of a rebuild should be coming around to, but I suppose imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Keep trying for that original all your own idea Edmonton, I think you can do it, maybe..
Don’t put your notebook down just yet McLellan, the Flames will be showing you how to do things for the rest of the season.

yah right. Stamkos to the leafs. I read that article and your could more or less make the exact same arguments for 15 teams in the league. Stankos is not going to become a free agent. Keep dreaming leaf fans because you are going to have a worst run than the oilers have had in recent years.

    About the Calgary arena…

I don’t live in Calgary or Edmonton, and why the hell should my provincial tax dollars help pay for an arena in calgary? Edmonton never used a dime of provincial money! How will that building help any taxpayers outside of Calgary? You want the building Calgary ? Pay for it yourself!!

favorites, in order, for calder trophy this coming season

    Eichel,
    Bennett,
    McDavid

I know, oiler fans think McDavid is gods father, but the other two have decent teams around them… good support.
