Inside Scotiabank’s Hockey Adventure of A Lifetime

Last June, Debra Gallagher was one of Scotiabank’s Hockey Adventure of a Lifetime grand prize winners. She and her husband were flown to the Windy City to catch game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Not a bad prize for simply using her Scotiabank NHL debit card.

Here are some highlights from their adventure:

  • They were flown from Saskatoon to Chicago, where they stayed in downtown Chicago. (If you’ve been to Chicago,
it’s a cool enough city that the trip alone is pretty rad.)
  • Prior to starting the Hockey Adventure of a Lifetime, each of them received Stanley Cup Finals swag, only
    available in the Finals’ cities.
  • They got a guided tour by a member of the NHL of the United Center and got to meet Jonathan Toews. They also
got to watch the Blackhawks’ morning practice – something only media typically get to do, especially during the
  • They had the chance to watch the press conferences of Chicago’s Joel Quenneville, Tampa Bay’s Jon Cooper, and
saw Don Cherry and Ron MacLean interview the top five prospects for the then-upcoming 2015 NHL Draft.
  • Debra and her husband had a chance to meet a number of media from around the world including Sportsnet
personalities Glenn Healy, Elliotte Friedman and Christine Simpson.
  • They got to hang out with Mike Bolt, the Keeper of the Cup, and spend some quality time with the Stanley Cup
  • Oh, and they sat in the 17th row in the United Center, behind Tampa Bay’s net, for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup
Final. The game itself was a thrilling 3-2 Lightning win off a late third period goal by Cedric Paquette.

Debra and her husband got to take part in a truly once in a lifetime experience that would make any hockey fan jealous. For
your chance to get closer to the game, be sure to sign up for a Scotiabank NHL debit or credit card. The process is easy and
you have the ability to customize your card to represent your favourite team. This season, Scotiabank will be drawing one
grand prize winner each month, so the chances of you winning a trip to the 2016 All-Star Game, 2015/16 Stanley Cup
Finals, or Opening Game tickets to the 2016/17 season have never been better!
