Sam Bennett Out Tonight, Day-to-Day With Upper Body Injury

Well, that’s not good.

A bit of a last minute news item for everyone before the game. Markus Granlund will make his 2015-16 debut and the lines will be shuffled mightily as Sam Bennett is out for tonight with an upper-body injury.

Bennett missed a gigantic chunk of last season with shoulder surgery and was not part of the group that took the optional practice this morning, but this comes as a bit of a surprise. Given that Flames head coach Bob Hartley noted no line-up changes as of this morning, one concludes that this must be a recent development.

Anyway, there it is. We’ll have more information for you as it becomes available. Enjoy the game!

Ouch. This was painful to watch. Giordano was -3 again–the second time in 5 games. Hopefully Brodie is back in the next week or two because Gio and Hamilton have not clicked to put it mildly. Is Hamilton adjusting to a new system, or is it not as good as advertised?

Mony and Gaudreau seem off too. Is Hudler hurt? I only noticed Frolik, Ferland and Jones tonight. Id like to think last year’s Christmas slump has come early and there’s still time to break out of it. Was this just two games in two nights? I’d like to think that, but the script is the same as the first four games–porous defence, outshot, outhustled.

Should Ortio start against Washington or is that throwing him of the Ovechkin wolves?

The leaders need to show up–soon!
