One of my Gordie Howe stories. The WHA up in Edmonton. The whistle blows to stop play and Gordie is in the corner facing the fans. A guy sitting there gives Gordie the finger but not a harsh finger – more of a wave. Gordie smiles, takes his glove off and gives him the finger right back. Gordie realizes the fan would really like to shake his hand but can`t and he smiles because he knows the fan respects him more than hating him.

In today`s game a finger to the fans leads to a suspension but when Gordie does it everybody laughs and enjoys the moment including Gordie.
