The Calgary Flames have trimmed their roster down a bit more.
In his address to the media this afternoon, Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan noted that forward Joseph Cramarossa was absent from practice for a pretty good reason.
#Flames have released Joseph Cramarossa from his PTO.

Cramarossa, 24, was brought into camp on a professional try-out contract a couple weeks back. The hope was perhaps that he’d bring a bit of physicality and offense to the Flames’ bottom six group. Unfortunately, he didn’t really stand out all that much in the games he got into. In three exhibition contests he didn’t really do very much in terms of crashing and banging, driving play, or creating offense. With a big goose-egg beside his name in terms of points through the preseason, cutting him loose was probably an easy decision to make.
The Flames are now down to 27 healthy players: three goaltenders, eight defensemen and 16 forwards. They have to trim four players from their camp roster by 3 p.m. MT on Oct. 3, the league’s roster deadline.
Yeah if everyone would stop whining now that’d be grrrrrrrrrrreat.
He’s not A Sultan. He’s The Sultan!
These are about the most tolerable comments you’ve ever posted. Cheers for you CP’sR.
Fan boy!
Great!
Can there be a Flames waive Bartkowski article in the near future?
..and the face punchers too
Well, blow me over! About time…Hathaway can bring the same thing as Comatosara….and he has game experience with the Flames
Holy crap. So while the Frames trim dead weight, the Heat are signing some players for try-out. Centers include 32 year old Rod Pelley (most recently from Albany Devils), 24 year old Brett Findlay (Toronto Marlies), Darren Norwich, 25, (Bridgeport) and Mike McMurtry, 25 (Texas Stars). Guess they found out the organization is weak up the middle. Guess Pelley is going to take the place of Angelidis???? I will see what these guys are like on Friday.
Glad to have you telling us about what is happening with the Heat. Hopefully they can fill the gap that is missing in the organization.
Too bad both Hrivik and Pribyl are injured, they are both decent center options for the Heat. Pribyl just seems to have the worst luck with injuries, which is really too bad, I think many fans are interested in seeing what he is all about.
I know it won’t happen, Flames should send Lazar down to be 1c in Stockton to try to rediscover his game.
GG on Fan960 says Andersson will play in one of the last 2 games…wants to get another look at him (note: before he sends him down)
Yeah 1 useless plug down, 4 more to go (Bart, Gaz, Glass, Hrivik)…
I hope I’m wrong, but I have a funny feeling Glass isn’t going anywhere.
I’m thinking the same… not really the worst idea though. they know what they get from Glass, day in and day out, for better or worse
Problem is who does he replace? F Hamiton is very servicable and being a centre helps. Hathaway is a younger, faster and overall better version of Glass so…
It is to dream . . .
No your thinking of Lucyic…
…correction! Lucychick!
Try again…Here I’ll help….Patricia Maroon. Man you could really use that edit button that everyone wants!
Quasimoto make your team yet? What about Pullyou?
Nice try oilcan, but the jig is up, we all know you’re a closet Oiler fan. Why don’t you give it up and go back to ON where you belong.
Oh good. The misogynists are here.
We got a keeper in Hathaway. And go Jankowski.
Hathaway’s analytics numbers last year were not good. And in terms of scoring ability, he has hands of stone.
Glass didn’t look that bad, the game I saw.
Glass was a tactically smarty call up by the Rangers last year during the playoffs. He’s not a bad extra forward. Trouble is, we have Lazar, Freddie… So where does he fit? That said, he’s been pretty good this pre-season, skates surprisingly well… And could realistically fill in where Engelland left off, in terms of giving a good 10 minutes and being there for teammates, need be. To compare Glass to Gazdic – Gazdic’s like Bollig. Glass is a 4th line mucker/extra forward who can scrap.
Methinks I would rather have Glass as the extra forward than Bartkowski as the extra D-man…
That was his only good game though. Separated from Dube he was his usual self.
Looking good in a preseason tilt against ahl competition should be expected from Glass. Many a player has done more to tear up the preseason and faltered when the games matter.
Looking at the roster and how it’s shaping up, you have to ask yourself can the flames knock off the ducks, hawks and pens and be a contender. BT has a way to go before that’s possible. A top 6 forward, a couple clutch grinding scorers on the bottom 6 and of course elite goaltending then we are there. 🙂
Bye Falicia.
Why today? Why didn’t they do what was obvious yesterday? Add why is Fearless Fosdick Gazdic not also cut?
Why does it matter if he was cut yesterday vs. today? Makes absolutely no difference to me.
Glass showed better. But Cramarossa is better than Gazdic, whose strictly a “facepuncher”. Glass is not that kind of player, though he’s had his share of scraps.
We need a face puncher to send over the boards to help protect Gaudreau – Gazdic is the the nuclear option.
Won the 1st overall draft pick in my draft.
I think I’ll take McDavid. How can I cheer for this guy when he plays for Edmonton. I’d rather have Crosby then I wouldn’t feel so dirty, but 3 points tonight I bet he gets 115 points this year.
Back in the day, Gretzky’s points were broken up so that you could draft his goals or his assists, you didn’t get both. And his assists were still a top two pick. At that time Messier and Kurri were also top 5 picks. That team was a powerhouse.
I remember those days & we had to do that with Mario Lemiux too. Remember back then Bernie Nicholls & Marcel Dionne hit 120-130 points & you always had several players break the 100points. So much for all the changes to make the game higher scoring eh?
This takes me back. I remember picking Rob Brown as my 9th pick in a couple of pools. He played with Mario at the end of the previous year, and was hoping he’d stick with the big guy the next year. Brown stuck and got 115 points, and he even missed 12 games. Needless to say I won both pools anyway. Fun times.
There is one pool I get in that for the last 5 years I have had horrible horrible luck with injuries on my 1st round pick. Cough…Stamkos..twice…ugggh…..had McDavid in his rookie year… no money that year. So my mission is to score the 1st overall & put the Kevy jinx on McDavid & I plan on loading up on 2-3 more Oilers in the top 6-7 rounds. It’s about hedging emotional feelings. If things go to task for me the Oilers will be toast but if they do well, I’ll have lot’s of $$$ to drown my sorrows with some Crown Royal. :->
Lines and pairing from Wednesday practice:
FORWARDS
Johnny Gaudreau – Sean Monahan – Micheal Ferland
Matthew Tkachuk – Mikael Backlund – Michael Frolik
Kris Versteeg – Sam Bennett – Troy Brouwer
Tanner Glass – Matt Stajan – Freddie Hamilton
DEFENCE
Mark Giordano – Dougie Hamilton
TJ Brodie – Travis Hamonic
Brett Kulak – Rasmus Andersson
If they aren’t going to play Lazar they should cut him.
Amarossa, but close

Forward Joseph Cramarossa has signed an #AHL contract with the @AHLHeat and will report directly to Stockton.
I think we lose a bit of team toughness with this cut.
