Mark Giordano named NHL’s first star of the week

The Calgary Flames are beginning this week in first place in the Western Conference and their captain has earned another accolade. Mark Giordano has been named the NHL’s first star of the past week.

The Flames went 4-0-0 over the past week and Giordano had points in all four games, with eight points in that span. Giordano, 35, is in the midst of his best offensive season of this career. Through 45 games, Giordano has nine goals and 47 points.

This is the third time this season that a Flames player has been named a weekly star, following Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan.

He would rather be at home with his family and his young children. Considering the odd ball schedule for the Flames in the first half with 2 or 3 games at home then 2 or 3 games on the road there was not much time for family life. The selected all-stars are not all all-stars anyhow. At least 1 player from each team…..

He is a phenomenal player. The other six D either play or watch him perform every night. If I am one of them, I would have started the season with a view to taking one aspect of his game and focused on emulating it every practice and every game for two to three weeks. Then I would choose another aspect and another until I was Giordano 2.0. If they haven’t being doing that, I would start now. It’s never too late.
The first thing ai would do is start by consistently moving people away from the net.
Second , nobody crosses my blue line without getting nailed. If someone has the puck I’m on him fast and hitting hard. That player is going down. You then progress from there. Our team would not be anywhere near where they are in the standings without him. I hope he plays TIL he is 44.
